From Book to Business

You have a book inside you: a body of knowledge, an important story to tell, or a methodology you've been living and refining for years. Also, somewhere in the back of your mind, you've always sensed that a book is only the beginning!

That instinct is right, and that’s where I come in.

I work with authors and would-be authors at the intersection of writing and building: helping them get the book written and building out the business that grows from it. These two things happen at the same time, by design, because the process of articulating your ideas on the page is also the process of discovering what you're actually building, what other people need from it, and what it can become.

Leanne Shear, business book ghostwriter and book coach and collaborator, and book-to-business strategist at Consciousness Raise Consulting

What This Looks Like:

The writing side of our work is a genuine collaboration. I function as a ghostwriter, co-author, and/or editorial partner, doing the interviewing, the deep listening, the drafting, the shaping, and the editing that turns what you know into a book that's actually worth reading. This is all your voice and ideas coupled with my craft and structure.

The business side runs concurrently. As the book takes shape, we're also mapping out the larger opportunity: What programs, courses, or workshops could live inside this material? What does your positioning look like as an expert in this space? Who is the audience, and how do you reach them? What does the business look like after the book launches?

Most ghostwriters hand you a manuscript, but I work with you  in partnership on something much bigger.

Who This Is For:

This is for people who have something real to say and want to build something real around it. That might look like:

  • A practitioner, coach, or consultant who is ready to codify their methodology into a book and a broader offer suite

  • A nonprofit leader or social entrepreneur whose work deserves a wider audience and a written foundation

  • A founder or executive with a story and a point of view that's been waiting for the right format

  • Someone who has been circling the idea of writing a book for years and finally wants to stop circling

You don't need to know exactly what the business looks like yet. That's part of what we figure out together.

WHY THESE TWO THINGS BELONG TOGETHER:

A book written in isolation tends to stay isolated: it gets published, it gets celebrated for a week, and then it sits there. When the writing process is integrated with strategic thinking about what comes after - what you're teaching, who you're reaching, what you're building - the book becomes the foundation of something bigger and longer-lasting.

This is the work I find most exciting: helping someone take an idea that has been living entirely inside their head and turn it into something the world can actually engage with.

Every collaboration is different, and I scope each project based on your goals, your timeline, and what the material requires.

We begin with a conversation about the book, the vision, and the business idea underneath it, and from there, I'll tell you honestly what I think is possible and how I'd approach it.

If you have a book inside you and a sense that it's the beginning of something larger, I'd love to hear about it.
